Ailanthus altissima, Tree-of-heaven, stinktree, chou chun, 臭椿. A member of the Quassia Family (Simaroubaceae) it is native to China, and is weedy throughout North America and elsewhere. In Traditional Chinese Medicine the bark is used in prescriptions for diarrhea, dysentery, tapeworm and other uses. Research has found interesting antimalarial compounds in the bark. Gardeners may suffer rashes from handling tthis invasive alien plant.
