Astragalus crassicarpus var. trichocalyx, Groundplum, the root of which was used by the Chippewa, with other herbs, as an anticonvulsant, stimulant, and tonic. Externally, for wounds to stop bleeding. Plant, fruits, and root sometimes eaten as a food by various native groups. Five varieties of this species are separated by technical characteristics.
