Five photographs Cercocarpus betuloides, Birchleaf Mountain Mahogany; Rosaceae, Rose Family, a Western North American species, used by native groups. The young plants or leaves of older plants were powdered, salt added, stirred into cold water, then brewed as a laxative. Root tea for coughs. Charcoal from the burned wood was applied to burns.
