Euphrasia nemorosa, Euphrasia officinalis var. nemorosa, Common Eyebright

Euphrasia nemorosa, Euphrasia officinalis var. nemorosa, Common Eyebright is a small hemiparasitic member of the Orobanchaceae, whose roots borrow (steal) nutrients from adjacent host plants. These images are from Fort Fairfield in Aroostook County, Maine. Eyebright, of course, this one among many Euphrasia species usually treated collectively given their complex taxonomy, is used as an herbal treatment for eye conditions.
