Panax notoginseng, Tienchi Ginseng, tienchi, san chi, sanqi, Sanchi, Panax pseudoginseng var. notoginseng, Panax notoginseng, 三七, san qi. This member of the ginseng family is commonly available in Chinese herb shops under the name san qi or tienchi. Found in mountain forests in southeastern Yunnan and cultivated in South China. It is valued to stop bleeding without causing blood stasis (non-astringent), stop pain, and reduce swelling. Hence, it is considered a worthy herb for the treatment of pain, swelling from traumatic injuries, contusions, sprains,and used in prescriptions for joint pain, sores, and abscesses.
