Dog rose, Rosa canina, rosehips, wild rose, rose hips, both fruits and flowers are used. The fragrant flowers have been a source of rose oil. Fruit extract is confimed to have anti-inflamatory and pain-relieving activity for osteoarthritis, rheumatic pain, lowerback pain, and for irritable bowel syndrome. The dried fruits (hips) are commonly used as a commercial herbal tea ingredient.
