Sorbus decora, (Pyrus decora), Northern Mountain Ash, Showy Mountain Ash, Dogberry

Sorbus decora, (Pyrus decora) Northern Mountain Ash, Showy Mountain Ash, Dogberry, was used by the Cree. Inner bark from the stem was used in decoction for rheumatism, back pain, and for the treatment of headaches. It is not distinguished as a separate species (or variety of) Sorbus americana until early in the 20th century, therefore, historical refererences to medicinal and food use of the tree likely can be applied to today's taxonomic concept of Sorbus decora.
