Twenty-four images of Stylophorum diphyllum, Celandine Poppy, Wood Poppy a woodland member of the Papaveraceae (poppy family), found from Ontaria, south through the Applachian highlands, west to Arkansas, North to Michigan. Vegetation like that of celandine and has yellow latex within. Two species of Stylphorum also occur in China. Nineteenth century physicians considered the root a potential antispasmodic.. Tincture used externally for skin eruptions and hemorrhoids. Internally it was used for liver and spleen afflictions. Historically, the root has also been found as an adulterant to goldenseal
