Aralia cordata, Udo, Tu dang gui is a spineless perennial herb to nine feet, occurring along streams in thickets and thin woods of ravines from Japan, Sakhalin, northeast China, and Korea. It is cultivated for its edible shoots. Its roots are traditonally used for stomachic, carminative, stimulant, and tonic qualities in fevers, lumbago, lameness rheumatism, stomachache, and toothache.
