Arnica latifolia, Broadleaf Arnica occurs at an altitude of up to 2400 m in mountain meadows and coniferous forests from New Mexico, California to the Yukon in Alaska. It was first collected and described in 1832 by August Gustav Heinrich von Bongard, collecting for the Imperial Academy of Sciences in St. Petersburg. Plant used externally as a poultice for bruises and sprains.
