Cardamine concatenata, Dentaria laciniata, Cutleaf Toothwort

Cardamine concatenata, Dentaria laciniata, Cutleaf Toothwort, a member of the Cruciferae or Brassicaceae, (mustard family) with a peppery root once chewed as a cold remedy, kept in the mouth to treat toothache, and root tea gargled to treat sore throat. Found in moist woods in eastern North America. One of our earliest spring wildflowers.
