Dirca decipiens, Ozark Leatherwood is a new species joining three other species in this small genus of shrubs in the Thymelaeaceae (mezereum family). It was first described in 2009, and is found in the Arkansaas Ozarks in Benton and Carroll counties, as well locations in eastern Kansas, and likely elsewhere in the Ozarks. Leatherwood is the namesake of Lake Leatherwood City Park in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, and is found in a few scattered populations in the park.
