Euphrasia officinalis, Euphrasia rostkoviana, Eyebright

Euphrasia officinalis, Euphrasia rostkoviana, Eyebright is a European species of eyebright, a hemiparasitic member of the Orobanchaceae found in northern Europe, and long used as an eyewash for inflammatory eye conditions. Euphrasia species contain anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antioxidant phenolic compounds, iridoid glucosides and a glycoside eukovoside, perhaps providing a basis for traditional use. These images were taken in various locations in the Swiss Alps.
