Frangula alnus, (Rhamnus frangula), Alder buckthorn is traditionally used as a strong purgative after the bark has been aged for a year. Fresh bark is strongly emetic and purgative. Found throughout the northern hemisphere, naturalized and invasive from Eurasia.
