Impatiens capensis, Jewelweed.

Impatiens capensis, Jewelweed crushed leaves are poulticed on recent Poison Ivy rash—a well-known folk remedy. Mucilaginous stem juice, harvested before flowering, also applied to rash. A component in the leaves, lawsone, may explain reported antihistamine and anti-inflammatory activities. A poultice of the fresh crushed leaves can help prevent development of dermatitis after coming into contact with Poison Ivy. However, some may have an allergic reaction to it.
