Klip Dagga, Lion's Ear, Catnip-leaved Lion's Ear, Leonotis nepetifolia was introduced into European horticulture by the eighteenth century. Undoubtedly widely cultivated since ancient times, found in and naturalized in India, Sri Lanka, Tropical Asia, Africa and the Americas. Traditionally in Mexico is was known as flor de mundo or world flower. It is antispasmodic and inhibits acetylcholine and histamine. In India, the ash of the flowerhead was mixed with curds and applied to ringworm.
