Photos of Lycopus europaeus, European Bugleweed

Lycopus europaeus, European Bugleweed is very similar in appearance to Lycopus americanus and hybridizes with it. It is increasingly naturlized in eastern North America. According to Foster and Duke in A Field Guide to Medicinal Plants and Herbs, 3rd edition, 2014: "Bugleweeds native to N. America, Asia, and Europe are used similarly on their respective contents, primarily as a suppressant to an overactive thyroid, along with related symptoms such as heart palpitations and nervousness; also used for coughs and insomnia."
