Monarda citriodora, Lemon Beebalm, Lemon Horsemint, Purple Horsemint, Plains Horsemint.

Monarda citriodora, Lemon Beebalm, Lemon Horsemint, Purple Horsemint, Plains Horsemint is a member of the mint family (Lamiaceae or Labiatae) native to the southern tier of states, north to Nebraska, westward to California, east to South Carolina. Its species name "citriodora" refers to its citrus-like fragrance. Traditionally used as a flavoring ingredient among the Hopi. Like other Monarda species we can assume it was used for colds, digestive problems, and to reduce fevers. Surprisingly little research exists on this plant.
