Robinia hispida, Robinia hispida, rose locust, bristly locust, rose acacia. Linneaus named the genus Robinia for Jean Robin (1550-1629), arborist and herblist to Henry III of France, and director of the gardens of the Louvre in the reigns of Henry IV and Louis XIII. His gardens held 1,800 plant species. This species is native to the Carolinas, Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama and Mississippi, and naturalized outside of its natural range from Maine to Oklahoma and beyond."
