Rosa setigera, Native Climbing Rose, Prairie Rose

Rosa setigera, Native Climbing Rose, Prairie Rose is a shrub or climbining vine found in dry to moist forests, woodlands, prairies, bluffs, old fields, in short, wherever it wants to grow in its relatively broad range in eastern North America. The fragrant flowers are light to rosy pink, and quite large, to 3 inches across. The relatively small rose hips are edible. This native slimbing rose is found in the nursery trade. Quite hardy and relatively free from disease.
