Photos of Thymus polytrichus, Thymus praecox subsp. polytrichus, syn. Thymus serphyllum, Thymus drucei, wild thyme

Thymus polytrichus, is a common wild thyme found in mostly limestone and chalk base soils in upland grasslands, rocky ledges, mountain cliffs, where it can compete with more aggressive plant species. Common in the British Isles and Ireland. Leaves are somewhat aromatic, but not particularly strong. These images were shot in Ireland on the Burren in County Clare, as well as the marvelous gardens at Bridget's Garden, Pollagh, Rosscahill, County Galway.
