Zizia aurea, Golden Alexanders

Zizia aurea Golden Alexanders. Found in dry rocky woods throughout much of the eastern United States. The Meskwaki used root tea for fevers. Historically, the plant has been referred to as a vulnerary (agent used to heal wounds) and a sleep inducer; it was also used the treatment of syphilis.
